Mommy Comes Home!

Chloe here. I have had lots of fun with Daddy this week, but I am ready for Mommy to come home. (I think she is too... there may have been some crying involved with her being away from me and all that.)

Here is how I was feeling Friday afternoon. Missing my Mommy.

Then Daddy told me that we were going to pick her up from the airport and I got SO happy! Gotta go now... bye!

Aunties and Cookie Dough

Chloe here. Mommy's still away and Daddy and I are home from Up Nort' (I will blog about this later). Last weekend, I got to spend some time with Auntie Megan. If you know her at all, you know she loves to bake! Here is my first experience with cookie dough.

DISCLAIMER: I did not really eat the cookie dough. This would make Mommy a bad parent (raw eggs and peanut butter... what!??!). Instead I just got to chew on this whisk while Mommy and Megan licked the beaters.

Solid Foods

Chloe here. Mommy's still in Dallas [sigh] but I'm with Daddy at G&G's up north and we are having lots of fun. Today subject: solid foods. I eat them every day, twice a day and they elicit quite a few emotions and moods in me.

I can be surprised.

Unsure. (Ok, VERY unsure.)

Indifferent.

Unhappy.

Waiting.

Stubborn.

Focused.

Disgusted.

Cautious.

And sometimes even happy!

This message was sponsored by Grammie Jo who continues to make me healthy and delicious baby food. (Except for the peas. No more please.)

Sweet Potatoes and Feet

Are there 2 better things in life to eat then sweet potatoes and feet?

Big Girl

Chloe here. This is my first post while Mommy is in Dallas. Thank goodness I still have computer access and can keep you up-to-date while Mommy is away. As you know I am 7 months old. This means I am a very big girl (much to Mommy and Daddy's chagrin) and can do big girl things like...

... standing up on my own! I am holding on to the couch. And Daddy had to position me. And I only held it for about 10 seconds. But I still did it! I am also a big girl because I can ...

... drink from a sippy cup! You've seen proof on a video, but this one had to make the list. Finally, I am a big girl because I prefer to ...

... drink from a grown-up cup! I make a mess, but it's really fun!

In closing, I think I have adequately proven that I am a big girl. Think Mommy and Daddy will buy me a cell phone now?

Happy Father's Day

Chloe here. I know it's a little late, but I wanted to say Happy Father's Day to all of the wonderful daddies that we know. Here is how I spent the day with my daddy.

We went to the Retzer Nature Center in Waukesha and took a walk on a paved trail. I got to ride on Daddy's shoulders for awhile. What fun!

About 30 seconds into it we had to stop and feed me.

This is what the trail looked like. It was neat.

I had fun cruising the trail, looking at trees and listening to birds.

Walking with Daddy through the pine plantation.

Mommy got a tip that there was a paved trail there, which is great for my stroller. Unfortunately, it was only about 800 feet. Oh well. On to Plan B.

They put me in the Baby Bjorn and found a boardwalk/wood chipped trail to walk on. I like this a lot too. Daddy and I are checking out what's in the stream here.

And posing for Mommy.

Somehow, the walk seemed mostly uphill. But it was a very nice trail and I liked the freedom of facing out and kicking my legs.

We ended the night celebrating with Grandpa and some extended family. See how the queen gets to sit at the head of the table?

On a sad note, Mommy leaves early tomorrow morning for Dallas. She will be gone until Friday. She is having a hard time dealing with this so please think of her this week. I will be heading up north with Daddy to visit G&G Simek. I told Daddy to take the laptop so that I can keep blogging.

Nights in June at the Zoo

Chloe here. On Thursday night, Mommy, Daddy, Grandpa and I went to the zoo with the Reske's for Nights in June. Here is our outing from my perspective.

This is what I did for most of the trip. I got to relax in the stroller while we walked around the zoo.

Our first stop was the flamingos. The setting sun was really pretty and we got a family shot by the birds.

This guy wanted to stretch his wings.

Next (per Ethan and Lauren) we headed to the aviary. Daddy says this is where the birds live. Here is a tropical birdie that we saw. He did NOT poop on me. I was glad.

Then we went to the Primate House. Of course we had to see how big I was next to a baby monkey (shout out to Chuckles!). He was nice, so I put my arm around him.

Then we saw the big guy up close. I thought he looked a little sad.

I had lots of fun with Grandpa. Grammie Jo was visiting Auntie Megan in Chicago so I received his undivided attention. Just how I like it.

Daddy made me laugh by popping wheelies in the stroller.

Mommy showed me the elephants.

They poop even bigger than I do!

Daddy showed me the giraffes.

This one's a baby... just like me!

Next (after some root beer floats for the non-babies) we went to see the big cats. We saw lions ...

... and tigers ...

... and jaguars, oh my! Can you tell that Mommy had fun playing with the camera? All the animals were up and about. I think this was because we went at night and it wasn't so hot.

My favorite part was the cheetah. I SCREAMED at him, but he didn't hear me. Ethan and Lauren did, though.

Or maybe he did and wanted me for dinner. Yikes!

We didn't leave until almost 9 o'clock. I was sleepy, but was having fun and trying to stay awake. We had a great time and I can't wait to go back!

Birthdays, Pizza and Vacuums at the Heidemans

On Wednesday, we headed over to the Heidemans (Sarah, Greg, Lucy, Ella and Baby Girl #3) for a pizza dinner and to celebrate Sarah's 30th birthday. Sarah's birthday is really next week, but since I will be in Dallas (more on this tragedy later) we celebrated early. We each made a pizza and had yummy salad.

Here is the only picture of the girls smiling and looking at the camera... sort of. Lucy (3) is on the left and Ella (2) is on the right. Chloe is the one not cooperating.

Chloe had fun playing with all of the girls' toys.

Dan had fun snuggling with the girls' "soft friends" and reading books.

Both Lucy and Ella were able to fit in Chloe's Bumbo. Ella is pretending to sit in a Bumbo here, but it's really Lucy's booster seat.

Ella gave Chloe a check up. Chloe disassembled the stethoscope and ate it.

The girls helped Sarah open presents.

Sarah is due at the end of August.

We had yummy cupcakes to celebrate.

And everyone helped blow out the candles. So how to vacuums fit in, you might ask? Just watch the video.

Greg had to do some vacuuming and we didn't realize Chloe would get so excited about it. She was jumping up and down and shaking... this is how excited she was about it.

Thanks for a super fun night, Heidemans, and Happy Birthday, Sare!
