8 months

 Check out those thighs!

 Sooooo big!

Casey James is 8  months old.  I LOVE this age.  I'm starting to feel like he understands us and is trying to communicate back now.  He seems to learn new things almost every day and it's so fun!

Pictures were tougher this month.  He was trying to peel the sticker off the couch and rolling around and moving all over.  You can tell just from the good photos we caught.

He travels all over the place but not by crawling yet.  He will go on his tummy and spin/pivot in the direction that he wants to be.  Then he will roll over and over to get where he wants.  It's funny.  You'll catch a bit of it in the video at the end.

You'll also catch some of his new tricks in one of the videos.  When we ask him, "How big are you?"  He puts his arms up in the air and we say, "Sooooo big."  Love it.  Then he claps for himself and we say, "Yay!"

He is working on waving, but doesn't quite get it very often.

He babbles something to the effect of, "Ba ba ba."  At first, Dan swore that he was saying "bottle," but now we think he's actually saying, "Bud bud."  If you didn't know, Bud bud is our nickname for him.  So his first word might be... himself?

Sometimes he shakes his head "no" randomly or kind of bops along when we sing.  Gotta catch that on video.

He's sitting up on his own, although we put a Boppy behind him if we're not sitting right next to him because that giant noggin' of his still tends to carry him backwards at times.

He's pretty much still sleeping the same as last month.  About 8:30 pm-6:30 am with a morning nap and afternoon nap.  Although last night he went to bed around 5:30... he was just THAT tired.  Dan got him up around 8:00 to give him a bottle and then he was down for the count again until morning.  Might be teething.  He's gotten 3 more teeth since last month.  Whoa!  Two middle incisors (see photos) and the one to the right of middle on the top is peeking through too.  I"m sure the 6th tooth to the left of middle on the top is on it's way soon.  My kids get teeth lightning fast... and early.

Still loves his Jumperoo... he's gotta be getting to big soon.  I hope he walks before he outgrows it or we're going to have to figure out another way for this child to get his "exercise" for the day.  Otherwise he'll be crabby!

Speaking of outgrowing things, he's out of his infant carseat.  You know, the one you can carry them around in?  He's now in what was Chloe's carseat and Chloe has a high back booster.

I know we still haven't posted him eating yet.  Since last month he's tried lots of new things (chicken and stars and spaghetti baby food jars in the past couple of days) including more finger foods like banana, mandarin oranges and blueberries.  He basically likes everything and if he's unsure of a veggie like green beans or something, all we have to do is mix it with banana yogurt and some baby oatmeal and he'll eat it.  He LOVES banana yogurt.

We're thinking he weighs about 23 lbs and he's 18 month clothing all around now.

I just love this age... 7, 8, 9 months.  They're just so happy and fun and doing all kinds of new things.

Happy 8 Months, Kiddo.  Love you bunches.

Mother's Day - Girls Day Out

Chloe here. We had an awesome Mother's Day with my Mommy and some of the other ladies in my life.

We started the day by bringing Mommy Starbucks and flowers.  I also made her this cool wooden block with pictures on it.  Daddy may have helped me a little bit.

Me and Mommy got cute and ready to go out with the girls!

But I had to check out a spider with Daddy first.

Did a little photo shoot before brunch.  Mommy says I look like a kindergartener in this picture.

We had yummy food at the Charcoal Grill.  I had scrambled eggs, fruit and LOTS of bacon.  The rest of the girls enjoyed the breakfast pizza, along with some other goodies.

Here's our group.  From left - Grammie, Mommy, me, Auntie Megan and Aunt Liz.  We're a good looking group, right?

Then... Mommy let me skip nap and go for a pedicure with the ladies!

I got to choose my polish... orange for me and orange for Mommy.

I was a little nervous.  It was my FIRST pedicure, you know.

Aunt Liz went first.  She got purple, of course.

I watched Pinnochio on the iPod while we waited.

Here are the ladies, chatting.

When it was my turn, I sat on Grammie's lap.

The nice man was very gentle and nice.

And he made my toes SO pretty.

But I still wasn't sure about the whole thing.

Here's everyone's toes (except Grammie) in their finished state.  Beautiful!

It wore me out and I crashed on the way home.

I had so much fun!  Thanks, Grandpa for treating us to lunch and pedis :)

Rabbit and Fauxhawks

So Chloe's been really working on drawing and printing lately.  Here is her drawing of Rabbit from Winnie the Pooh.  Genius, right?
And here's the boy all ready for a banquet at school. (DJ Robby Rob was one of the students being honored.)
And is party-time fauxhawk.

I love my kids.  They crack me up.

Learning to Crawl

Casey here. I've been really, really trying to be mobile lately.

Daddy had out my favorite soft friend, Fudge, as an incentive the other day.

Fudge was the guy that Chloe made for me before I was born and brought me in the hospital.
I'm gonna get you, Fudge!

What, you're photographing me?

Big sister thought she'd offer a bit of help.

Didn't crawl yet, but somehow I got to Fudge!  I'm a happy guy.

To All the Moms

Happy Mother's Day to all of you moms out there from these two little ones.  Hope you enjoy a restful, fun day!  (Chloe wrote her name... for the first time all by herself!)
