Door County - The Final Chapter

Chloe here. On the day that we left, we got up and ate breakfast at Al Johnson's in Sister Bay. It's a Swedish restaurant that's famous for it's... not going to tell you yet! You're going to have to keep reading to find out!

It was a bit early and I was still waking up.

Creamer anyone?

I got to eat my yogurt out of this cool pewter bowl.

And try some of Grammie's Swedish pancakes.

They had a funny troll outside. No silly, that's Daddy. The troll is next to him!

Can you see what's in my hand? His name is Doug and he's a clue as to what makes this place so special.

Do you see them?

I see them. Look!

Goats on the roof, Daddy! So this is what they're famous for. I wonder how they get the grass up there, nevermind the goats!

So cool. Hope you liked a recap of our trip. Up next, catching up on 4th of July (6 weeks later).

Door County - Chapter 5

Chloe here. Ok, I know I have to wrap up the whole DCEW thing, but this is the second to last post, so deal with it.

This chapter brings us to the popular Wilson's ice cream store in Sister Bay. We got some ice cream as we sat by the water and enjoyed the last few rays of summer sun.

Notice from the pictures that Grammie Jo and I enjoyed our treat very much. Also notice on the video how I'm insistent on using a napkin, and as I'm cleaning up one part of me, the ice cream is running down my hand. A walking contradiction - that's me!

Oh yeah, and I got to go back to the trailer with a full belly and read bedtime stories with Auntie Megan and Uncle Morgan. Sweet!

Door County - Chapter 4

Chloe here. Another installment of the DCEW (see previous post) is up! Next we were on our way to Gills Rock to Northshore where the ferries take off for Washington Island.

Mom walked me through the parking lot. Cars and all that stuff. You know.

Grandpa helped show me what to do.

It was fun seeing the "big water," as Grammie Jo calls it.

Family shot.

I've never felt wet sand between my toes before. It was squishy and awesome. By the way, Mommy absolutely ADORES this picture of my pretty piggies.

I also got to draw in the wet sand with sticks.

And squish it in my hands.

Uncle Morgan showed me how to do it.

Then Daddy took a walk.

And climbed some rocks. See him? (Click on the picture to make it bigger if you need to.) It's like Where's Waldo :)

I played some more with my Auntie and Uncle.

And then watched the ferry come in with Auntie Megan. We're friends.

Oh, I get it... a FERRY like a boat... I thought we were going to see FAIRIES!

Only 2 more Chapters to go!

Door County - Chapter 3

Chloe here. Time for the third installment of our Door County Extravaganza Weekend (hereafter referred to as DCEW). After our big hike, we needed a bite to eat so we went to a highly recommended restaurant called Fred and Fuzzy's in Sister Bay that was right on the water.

They didn't have high chairs so I got to use a booster chair. How do you like my big girl pony tail?

Here's a family shot. As you can probably tell, I wasn't too thrilled with the menu.

While we waiting for our food, I got to play by the water.

I can't believe I was actually allowed to throw rocks!

It was hard to walk on them in these shoes... Daddy calls them my Stinky Pinkies :)

Daddy tried to show me how to skip stones.

It was hard, but I got one! Ok, maybe not. I'm too little.

But I still enjoyed my time by the water.

On the way back, in the van, Auntie Megan was cracking me up!

We stopped at Seaquist to get a cherry pie. This was Great Grandma Shemanske's favorite place for cherry pies. She's been in heaven for a year now, but I had some pie in remembrance of her!

There was a funny picture taking spot there, so Mommy, Daddy and I became a farm family.

With me as the piggie. Oink oink!

Ok, so Daddy's really the piggy :)

Stay tuned for Chapter 4 of the DCEW... coming soon!

Door County - Chapter 2

Chloe here. Time for the second part of our DC extravaganza. The second day we were there, we woke up, at breakfast, and decided to go for a hike at Peninsula State Park.

The first thing we did at the park was climb the fire tower. Check out the view!

With Auntie Megan, Uncle Morgan, Mommy and Daddy.

If you click on this picture, it should get bigger. Then notice the little, yellow dot down there? That's Grandpa! He gets nervous from heights, so he stayed on the ground... WAY down there.

Then we did about a 2 mile hike. I started out insisting I walk myself. This actually lasted quite awhile. I think it took an hour to do the first quarter mile or so.

Here I go!

Found my walking stick!

Auntie Megan tried to convince me that riding on her shoulders was better. And Uncle Morgan carried an empty backpack.

She was right. It was better!

It was her workout for the day :)

Eventually, I got real tired. Grandpa's shoulder was just right. He carried me all the way back.

I woke up for a minute when we got in the car.

But then was out again, for the count.
Up next - Chapter 3, tomorrow!

Door County - Chapter 1

Chloe here. Finally getting around to blogging about my first trip to Door County - at Grandpa's trailer! The first day we got there, we just hung out, ate subs and played Cornhole (Bean Bag Toss). Lots of fun... kind of buggy. The fire was pretty too!

Notice how I am sooo efficient at clearing the bags for everyone. Also notice my excellent jumping skills and super fly dance moves at the end of the video.

Stay tuned for Chapter 2 tomorrow (hopefully)!
