1 year old. 12 months. I can't believe I'm writing this post. I can't believe I've done these monthly posts 12 times already for this little guy. Casey James Simek is 1 year old!

Yes, these pictures were again a giant pain to take. He just won't sit still. As you can see by a group in the middle, we got a few shots of him on the move. Often times all I see is his backside as he scoots out of the room or climbs something he's not supposed to.

He can stand on his own... when he doesn't realize he's doing it :) He is also cruising around the house. I imagine walking is just around the corner.

He does like to be vocal. "More" is his favorite one right now... referring to food, of course. He also likes saying "hi" and "bye" to people. These are accompanied by a wave. Pretty cute!

He shakes his head no when he doesn't want something. Just yesterday he started shaking his head yes too! I'll have to get this one on video soon.

Sleeping has stayed steady this month. He still goes down around 8 or 8:30 (snuggling with Fudge). Then he wakes at 5 or 5:30, taking his bottle, and going back down for a couple of hours. He takes one nap at the same time as Chloe, and is down to 3 bottles a day (when he wakes up, when he goes to bed, and then one after his nap.) We're supposed to be cutting down on bottles, but this kid loves them too much.

This month, the favorite new things he likes are turkey taco meat (oh man do I have some pictures) and cake... as in birthday cake. This kid did a number on his at his party! While he still drinks formula out of his bottles, until we use it all up, he is now drinking whole milk out of a sippy. It's made him poop more during the day (I know, TMI, but this is a diary to remember for him too!), but overall the transition has been good.

We did go to the doctor last week. Here are his stats:

Height: 32 1/8 inches (99.9 percentile)
Weight: 25 lb 1 oz (94 percentile)
Head: 49 cm (95 percentile)

In summary, since his 9 month checkup he's grown 2 inches, but only gained 1/2 lb. He's definitely looking taller and thinner. Our doctor says he's the size of an average 18 month old so it makes sense that he's wearing 18-24 month clothing and a size 5 shoe.
