One and one-half years. 18 months. 78 weeks. 547 glorious, challenging, wonderful, exhausting (just ask Daddy) days.
Yes, these pictures are even more a giant pain to take, if that could even be possible. He just won't sit still. That's why a lot of them are outside and none of them are posed with a sign. Even those were hard to get. All I could see as I tried to get a shot was his cute little backside waddling(or driving as in the last photo) away.
Anyway, Casey James is 18 months today. He is "talking" more than ever and we can make out about 3% of what he is saying. Here is what he can say (depending on the day):
Mama
Dada
Grandpa
Bye bye
Water
Hi
Milk
More
Mine
Hi-Ho
He still shakes his head no most of the time when we ask him a question, but now he also puts is shoulders up in an "I don't know" kind of way.
About 6 weeks ago, he had his first hospital visit with a nasty case of croup. All is well that ends well, but boy was it scary.
He is also really into mimicking us - our sounds and inflection in our voices. This is the case mostly with Chloe and firetrucks.
He is starting to follow rules, like putting his shoes on the mat, put things in the garbage and clean things up. This is awesome, but we're not sure how long it will last.
He can point to some of his body parts some of the time (more often than not he's pointing to Dan or my body parts)- eyes, nose, mouth, hair, head, ears, toes, tongue. He likes to show off his belly and belly button. He also likes to lift up our shirts and put his finger in our bellybutton.
He loves to draw with markers on little pads of paper. He really likes taking the caps off and putting them back on.
Just got a massive haircut yesterday. Had his first real haircut about a month and a half ago. Yes, the curls are gone. :(
Loves to brush his teeth. Multiple times a day. No cavities for this boy! Also loves baths. Superb hygiene.
Likes to go downstairs and play in the basement.
He likes to try and get the remote and turn on the TV. He also steals the iPad and likes to swipe his fingers across it.
Likes to go through things on the shelf - Daddy's wallet, the camera, our phones.
He is doing well feeding herself with a spoon when he wants to. I think his 3 favorite foods are raspberries, chips, and ketchup. But he loves his milk above anything.
Sleeping has been steady for awhile. He still goes down around 8 or 8:30 (snuggling with Fudge and various other blankets, while looking at books). He sleeps through the night (we are off the bottle as of 15 months) and wakes around 7:30 with Chloe. As it gets lighter out, he wakes earlier and earlier in the morning. Great. He takes one nap at the same time as Chloe.
He loves being outside and always wants to go out and play. He also loves going places, just like his Mommy. He's not content just hanging out at home.
We had a 15 month well-child visit and here were his stats:
Height: 33 1/2 inches (99.9 percentile)
Weight: 27 lb 3 oz (95 percentile)
Head: 48.7 cm (90 percentile)
Because he was doing so well, we didn't schedule an 18 month checkup, so we won't have anything official for awhile.
Happy 18 month birthday, little one! The countdown to 2 begins (gulp)!
**Feel free to leave a 1.5 birthday comment. He will read these when he is older!
