21 Months

Chloe Jo is 21 months. This month, as you can see from the previous post, her talking really took off. She can say many more words, and will pretty much try to say any word that we ask her to. It's REALLY fun. However, she only "performs" for immediate family. Anyone who's last name isn't Simek, Shemanske or Hamm might think that our child is a mute.

She finally learned how to say "no." It's still pretty cute, but I'm sure it will get old soon. We'll have to catch a video of it.

She is very into her favorite bedtime stories. We read about 6 (!) each night. Her favorites include Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb, Cha Cha Chimps, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, the whole Brown Bear series by Eric Carle the Pookie series and the Priddy Books with all of the pictures. She will sit and read books by herself now, too.

She can climb up the ladder on her playset by herself and likes going down the slide... and climbing back up the slide!

She is starting to smile when we ask her to for pictures, but it looks like those pictures in the middle of the post above with her on the bench... kind of like she's growling.

She's very helpful with things around the house... dusting, throwing things away, wiping up spills.

This month is the first month we've tried time-outs... complete with timer and it seems to be working ok. She sits on the welcome mat for time out, then has to say "I'm sorry" and give a hug to the person that gave her the time-out.

She has learned to hit her T-ball nicely.

She is wearing sizes 18-24 month clothing, and we recently bought 2T (!) leggings for fall. She is wearing a size 5 shoes.

She is energetic and charming and exhausting and wonderful and hilarious. Love you Chlo!
